The Town of Webster recently adopted a Land Use Plan that will help guide future decisions and growth while also being mindful to protect the small-town community feel, the unique heritage and history, and the river and mountain ecosystems that surround it.
Ordinances
Webster’s Zoning Ordinances have been updated to bring them into compliance with NC General Statute 160D. The following ordinance documents were approved by the Town Board in September 2021. The Town also adopted sections of Jackson County’s Unified Development Ordinance (with some amendments) to help streamline the administration and enforcement of those county ordinances which are consistent with the Town’s wishes for future growth and development.

American Rescue Plan Act of 2021: Coronavirus state and local fiscal recovery funds grant project ordinance
Webster adopted American Rescue Plan Project Ordinance to guide the spending of monies received from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
The Jackson County Planning Department is the initial point of contact for permits and approvals subject to Webster’s Zoning Ordinance.

An administration fee, per the Schedule of Fees, are applicable to all applications. Fees associated with Special Use Permits and Requests for a Variance are paid to Webster’s Town Hall. All other fees are paid to Jackson County offices.
